Sometimes costing precludes the use of oil –based drilling fluids. And standard inhibited water-based drilling fluids system don’t cope up with the challenges of very reactive clays, troublesome shale in the formation Poor ROP of less than 1m/hr produces very fine solids in the system. Low ROP also leads to a high flow line temperature which contributes to increase clay dispersion
This may lead to increasing clay content in the mud
In such scenario HPWBM system is highly effective and we have successfully implemented it in various Basins and Reservoirs of India
HPWBM uses KCl or K2SO4 along with Polyamine in a specific ratio, clay and shale inhibitor and encapsulator as well, LCM material as bridging agent to bond any developing micro-fractures, and enhance the overall fluid loss of the system to optimize and reduce pore pressure transmission.
ROP Enhancer is found effective for Increasing ROP and Use Of Non invasive fluid loss additive along with a combination of thoughtfully designed Calcium carbonate of various particle size is found extremely effective for overall well stability.
HIWBM is very Effective in drilling various type of formations, which are characterized by reactive shale and a very high content of dispersive clays.
A highly inhibitive water based system which utilizes a combination of KCl and polyamine for ionic inhibition along with a mixture of Calcium carbonate of different industrial grades thoughtfully desined and engineered for micro-pores/fractures sealing, which prevents pore pressure transmission and ionic diffusion.
Rheology is maintained with XC polymer and Fluid loss is controlled with the additions of Polyanionic Cellulose, Resinated Lignite and Sulphonated asphalt along with Non Invasive fluid loss additive provide extra inhibition and hole stability.
In Highly Inhibitive Water-Based Mud, incorporating Glycol and Extreme pressure Lubricants decreases torque and drag while increasing the lubricity in water-based fluids, including brine-based systems.
